Open Journal Systems (OJS)

Open Journal Systems is an editorial system based on open source software designated for management and publishing of electronic journals. The system was developed and it is supported and propagated within the project Public Knowledge Project under GNU General Public license.

OJS provides a well arranged and comfortable interface for all editorial processes, possibility to automatically set up repetitive editorial processes or create an effective website for a journal including online publishing of full texts with all required functions.

OJS at the CTU

Installation of  OJS for the CTU’s journals is managed by the CTU Central Library who also provides information support.

OJS is actively used by 10 journals at the moment.

Advantages of OJS

  • all documents from adding a contribution to publishing it are archived online

  • assignment of predefined access or roles to individual users

  • simplification and automation of editorial processes (automatic notifications, preset emails, watching due dates, assigning reviewers)

  • possibility of set up of a hidden trial version for a new user

  • comprehensive indexing of all content in the whole system

  • work with publication standards – DOI, ORCID

  • possibility of metadata export in various formats for databases, repositories etc.
